Skyline Dance Center Policies & Procedures
2025 – 2026 Session Dates
Skyline Dance Center operates on an August – June session, divided into two semesters, followed by a dedicated performance preparation period.
- 2025 – 2026 Full Session: August 18, 2025 – June 13, 2026
- Fall Semester: August 18, 2025 – December 20, 2025
- Spring Semester: January 5, 2026 – May 16, 2026
- Performance Prep & Presentation: May 18, 2026 – June 13, 2026
Performance Prep & Presentation
The final portion of the season is dedicated to recital preparation, dress rehearsals, and performances. The Performance Presentation will showcase:
- Competitive Routines from the Resonance Program’s competition season.
- A Story Performance featuring dancers from both the Foundations and Resonance Programs.
All students participating in performances must attend all required rehearsals during this period.
1. Registration & Tuition
- Monthly tuition will be posted on the 1st of each month and must be paid in full by the 15th to avoid a late fee.
- Tuition payments may be made online, via auto-pay, or in person. Accepted payment methods include cash, credit card, and bank transfer.
- Tuition and fees are non-refundable, and missed classes do not qualify for credits or refunds. Make-up classes are available within the same semester.
- Class cards must be used during the season in which they were purchased. Any remaining unused classes at the end of the season will be credited at 50% of their original value toward the following season.
2. Attendance & Make-Up Classes
- Regular attendance is essential for student progress. Excessive absences may impact class placement and performance eligibility.
- Make-up classes are available during the semester in which the absence occurred, including for illness or injury.
- Novice competitive dancers are required to utilize all 10 ballet class vouchers to maintain team eligibility.
- Competitive dancers who miss three (3) or more rehearsals are required to schedule and pay for a private lesson. Failure to do so may result in removal from a routine or section of choreography.
- All rehearsals designated as “mandatory” are non-negotiable. Failure to attend may result in removal from a performance.
- All soloists, duets, and trios must schedule a private lesson during the week prior to any competition.
3. Dress Code & Grooming
- Proper dance attire is required for all classes. Each class has a specific dress code, which will be provided upon registration.
- Hair must be secured in a ponytail or braid for all classes except ballet, which requires a bun.
- Smartwatches and hoop earrings are strictly prohibited during Acro classes.
- Dance shoes should never be worn outdoors, and street shoes are not permitted inside the dance studio.
4. Studio Etiquette & Code of Conduct
- All students are expected to conduct themselves with respect toward instructors, staff, and fellow dancers.
- Running, disruptive behavior, and excessive talking during class are not permitted.
- Food, gum, and sugary beverages are not allowed inside the studio. Water bottles with sealed lids are permitted.
- Students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared for class.
5. Parent & Guardian Expectations
- Observation windows are not available; however, parents may view classes live via the studio’s camera system.
- Parents and guardians must ensure that students are picked up promptly at the end of their scheduled class. A late pick-up fee may apply.
- Instructor availability is limited during class hours. Any questions or concerns should be addressed via email or by scheduling a meeting.
6. Health, Safety, & Studio Closures
- Students experiencing illness, fever, or other contagious symptoms should refrain from attending class.
- All injuries must be reported to an instructor immediately.
- The studio reserves the right to cancel classes in the event of hazardous road conditions. If a make-up class cannot be scheduled, affected students will receive a refund for the missed class.
- Personal belongings must be stored in designated areas. Lockers are available for rent for a nominal monthly fee.
- Skyline Dance Center is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
7. Performances & Costumes
- Participation in recitals and performances is encouraged but not mandatory. Students wishing to participate must submit a recital participation form and pay all associated fees by the designated deadline.
- Costumes are ordered through the studio and are non-refundable.
- Skyline Dance Center may, at its discretion, offer to repurchase performance costumes at a percentage of the original cost.
- All students must attend required rehearsals to be eligible to perform in any production, showcase, or competition.
8. Competitive Program Policies (Resonance Program)
- Competitive dancers must fulfill all class and rehearsal commitments as outlined in their team agreements.
- Additional fees apply for competition entry, travel, and costuming.
- Competitive dancers are expected to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and adhere to all studio policies.
- Failure to attend required rehearsals without scheduling a private lesson may result in removal from a routine or section of choreography.
9. Social Media & Photography
- Skyline Dance Center reserves the right to photograph and record classes, rehearsals, and performances for promotional and marketing purposes.
- Parents who do not wish for their child’s image to be used for promotional purposes must submit a written opt-out request.
